CAYMAN TECHNOLOGY JOBS

Half the jobs in the Cayman Islands support the financial services industry, partnered by Cayman’s other big economic pillar, tourism. There is an increased for IT positions as the tech industry grows.

The technology scene in Cayman is vibrant with a strong presence of many different areas of the sector. With the workplace becoming increasingly reliant on technology, the need to operate as efficiently as possible and hire technically savvy professionals is becoming more necessary. 

There are two telecommunications companies in Cayman – Digicel and Flow – who both offer Caribbean-wide service coverage, and customer-centric, structured business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) business models. Cayman hosts a range of service providers, mainly within the internet/broadband and outsourced technical support. Companies such as Logic Cayman and C3 are the main go-to companies for internet service and fibre-optic network, with the additional business lines from Flow and Digicel. Opportunities for both closely affiliated industries range from technicians, sales associates, and account managers to back-end operations.

Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) is Cayman’s Special Economic Zone – an area in which the business and trade laws are different from the rest of the country. These companies are based in Cayman as part of CEC’s economic zone, and the aim is to increase employment, local investment, job creation and effective administration. SEZ companies reap many benefits, and those in the technology sector are a part of CEC’s ‘Tech City’. Tech City businesses typically operate within the blockchain, ecommerce, FinTech, marketing, AI, and life sciences sectors, and range from start-ups to SME and large multinational businesses.

Internal positions are most applicable within the Banking, Legal and Financial Services sectors in Cayman, as some of the major pillars of the economy. Many local and large multinational businesses have technical functions based in Cayman that support all areas of the business, sometimes for multiple jurisdictions. Key internal positions include software engineers, business analysts, project managers, service desk professionals as well as many other niche functions.
