Affinity Recruitment has been engaged by a highly reputable, multinational law firm to assist in their search for a seasoned compliance manager to join their well-established and expanding Cayman team.

The individual will act as the MLRO and AMLCO for the Cayman Islands office and also provide Compliance support to other overseas jurisdictions, ensuring that they comply with the firm’s compliance and AML policies and procedures.

Duties:

To receive internal Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR’s) in Cayman, review and externalize to the Financial Reporting Authority (FRA) if appropriate;
Take responsibility for undertaking the Compliance Monitoring Programmes of Cayman and the BVI;
To oversee sanctions checks for Cayman and the BVI;
To recommend amendments to systems and controls when necessary;
To contribute to the reporting of Management Information e.g. to Risk Committee and Strategy Board, attending meetings where applicable;
The preparation and provision of training as and when required under legislation;
To ensure the provision of AML and Advanced AML Refresher training (via computer based training supplied);
Ensure periodic audits of the AML/CFT programme;
Maintain various regulatory logs;
The provision of compliance advice as and when required, on application of legal and regulatory requirements as they relate to Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing, Anti Proliferation Financing and Financial Sanctions regimes;
To escalate any issues identified to the Group Head of Compliance in a timely manner;
To assist with the implementation and oversight of Data Protection compliance as required.

Requirements:

Experience in a senior Compliance Manager / MLRO role for a Cayman Islands financial services or professional services firm;
In possession of or studying for a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ICA, ACAMS);
Compliance experience, minimum 5 years;
Knowledge of relevant legislation including jurisdiction-specific AML/CFT Regulations and Guidance Notes;
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment without supervision.
